Stanley Kubrick‘s epic movie tells us much about evolution of life, mankind and space. “2001: A Space Odyssey” is one of the greatest movies ever made and every movie addict should watch it.

Even it came out very soon before computer-generated visual effects began taking over Hollywood, it won the 1979 Academy Award for best visual effects. The Martian director’s “Alien” is a true masterpiece that every movie lover should see.

“Solaris” a great movie made in 1972 by famous Russian director Andrey Tarkovski. In “Solaris”, a psychologist sent to a space station orbiting a distant planet to discover what has caused station crew to go insane. This distant planet has some unusual effects on human kind and Kris Kelvin travels there to rectify the situation. “Solaris” is one of the best space movies and it tells much about humanity, politics and psychology. In addition, there is a remade version of “Solaris”, directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring George Clooney.

This epic historical drama from Ron Howard won 2 Oscars and it is a great movie about humanity’s journey to space.

Starring Tom Hanks and Helen Hunt, “Cast Away” has a similar feel and storyline with The Martian. In fact, this movie tells nothing about space or Mars. But if you liked The Martian, i think this movie is the most related movie with it. In “Cast Away”, you will watch the story of a FedEx executive transforming himself physically and emotionally to survive a crash landing on a deserted island. This movie a great one-man show from Tom Hanks and it is one of my favorites too.
